Arctic Tern: The first LNG dual-fuel MR

BRS is proud to announce the delivery of ARCTIC TERN, the first LNG dual-fuel MR tanker.

The 50,000 Dwt vessel was built at South Korea’s K Shipbuilding, and it can run on LNG and conventional fuels. The deal was finalized in October 2021, and the vessel has been under construction since June 2023. The vessel is Singapore-flagged and currently on a 12 year time charter to LDC.

As discussed in the BRS Weekly Tanker Newsletter 22 July 2024, FuelEU compliance costs will begin to factor in significantly in coming years, along with other regulations such as the EU ETS and CII coming into play, giving dual-fuel vessels increased significance.
